EU CLP Labelling for Candles & Diffusers: Complete Guide

What is CLP?

CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) is the EU regulation governing how chemical products — including candles and diffusers — must be labelled with hazard information.

Required Label Elements

  • Hazard pictograms (e.g., flame, exclamation mark, environment)
  • Signal word (Warning or Danger)
  • Hazard statements (H-codes)
  • Precautionary statements (P-codes)
  • Allergen declarations (for fragrances)
  • UFI code (Unique Formula Identifier)
  • Supplier identification

UFI Codes

Since 2021, all hazardous mixtures sold in the EU require a UFI code. This 16-character code links your product to its exact formula in poison centre databases.

Common Mistakes

  • Missing allergen declarations (linalool, limonene, etc.)
  • Wrong pictogram selection
  • Missing UFI code
  • Labels not in destination-country language

Our Service

We produce fully compliant CLP labels for every EU-bound product, including allergen declarations, UFI registration and destination-language text.
